Dear Friends, Family, Fellow Distillers, and Spirit Lovers,
The holidays are almost upon us and we would be happy and honoured to be part of your celebrations. We have a few new offerings as well as our trusted regulars.
Salal Gin Released this Friday, December 4,
Our second annual release of Salal Gin will take place this Friday, December 4th. Salal Gin is Odd Society’s answer to British Sloe Gin. Since sloe berries aren’t native to Canada, we hit upon salal as our local equivalent. We had high hopes of releasing “vast” quantities this year but it was a dry season and salal berries and foragers were not plentiful. Luckily, Alexander McNaughton, a forager based in Tofino, was able to gather some for us, as well as Barbara, a resident of the Sunshine Coast. We thank you both! All that to say we produced a total of 80 bottles. This is almost a 100% increase over last year.
Bottles will be available at the distillery only, starting Friday, December 4th from 1:00 p.m. onwards for $30 (one bottle limit per person). We hope to see you then.
30-Liter Whisky Cask Offering
Choose Between 100% Rye or 100% Malted Barley
We are preparing for our annual cask offering in January. This year we are pleased to announce that cask owners will have the choice of filling their cask with either rye whisky OR single malt whisky. As you may have heard, a Canadian rye was voted World Whisky of the Year 2016 by Jim Murray. The next few years will be very exciting as more craft distilleries begin to bring their own whiskies on line. Stay tuned for more cask offer info in December.
If you are interested in being added to our cask offer mailing list, please email miriam@oddsocietyspirits.com.
Odd T-Shirts and Flasks
We are once again offering Odd T-shirts and flasks. T-shirts have just arrived and flasks will be available next week.
New Cocktails
Kylie has been hard at work creating holiday cocktails. In honor of our salal release, we will be offering our version of a French 75 called the “West Coast Salal 75”, which features Salal Gin, sparkling wine, and lemon.
